Javier has three decades of experience as an investor, board member, founder,operating executive and public service. His views have been shaped by his broad range of experiences, global perspective, multi-cultural roots and change-makiing disposition.
He is Managing Partner of Impact Master Holdings, Venture Partner at Fenway Summer, Operating Partner at Presidio Investors, Chairman of GP Funding, Inc., Member of the Board of two (NYSE: TWOA), Contributor at CNBC and Executive Fellow at Harvard Business School.
Until recently he served as Audit Committee Chair of the Board of SoftBank Vision Fund Investment Corp. (NASDAQ: SVFA), Lead Independent Director of the Board of Porch Group, Inc.(NASDAQ: PRCH), and held leadership roles on the Boards of Trustees of Pan American Development Foundation and The Nature Conservancy. He also held seats on the Global Board of Advisors of Docusign, Inc. (NASDAQ: DOCU) and Board of Advisors of Univision Communications, Inc., and is a Member Candidate of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Board Advisory Council.
Previously, Javier was appointed by President Obama to serve as Associate Administrator, Chief of Investment & Innovation of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). He was chief executive of programs that since inception have invested over $120 billion in ~300,000 companies. He also served on a number of White House working groups and councils and concurrently served on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Committee on Small & Emerging Companies
Before public service, he spent 20+ years in various investing, operating and advisory roles at organizations that include McKinsey & Company, Booz Allen & Hamilton, Bridgewater Associates, Abbott Laboratories and Air America. In his transition back to private life he was Executive in Residence at Columbia University’s Columbia Technology Ventures, Senior Fellow at Georgetown University’s Beeck Center and Mentor at Stanford University’s Latino Leadership Initiative.
Over his career Javier has been a director of several PE/VC backed companies and nonprofits and served as Mentor at Kauffman Foundation and Techstars and was a Member of Aspen Institute’s Latinos & Society. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, MS in Operations & Technology from Illinois Institute of Technology and BS in Industrial Management from Purdue University.
