Javier Saade has three decades of experience as an investor, board member, operating executive and public service. His views have been shaped by his broad range of experiences, global perspective, multi-cultural roots and change-making disposition.
Javier founded IMH and is partner at Fenway Summer, a venture capital firm that has backed 60+ high-growth companies innovating at the intersection of finance and technology. He is also a Director of Softbank’s SVF Investment Corp (NASDAQ: SVFA) and Chairman of the Board of GP Funding, Inc., a private equity owned financial services firm.
Until recently, he held seats on the Board of Directors of Porch Group (NASDAQ:PRCH), Board of Trustees of Pan American Development Foundation, Board of Trustees of The Nature Conservancy, Global Advisory Board of DocuSign, Inc. (NASDAQ: DOCU), Board of Directors of Foundation for Puerto Rico, and Corporate Responsibility Board of Advisors of Univision Communications, Inc. and Harvard Business School's Arthur Rock Center for Entrepreneurship. He also served as a full-time member of the Biden Transition Team focused on the Department of Treasury.
Previously, Javier was appointed by President Obama to serve as Associate Administrator, Chief of Investment & Innovation of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). He was chief executive of programs that since inception have invested over $120 billion in ~300,000 companies. He also served on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Committee on Small & Emerging Companies.
Before public service, he spent 20+ years in various investing, operating and advisory roles at organizations that include McKinsey & Company, Booz Allen & Hamilton, Bridgewater Associates and Abbott Laboratories. In his transition back to private life he was Executive in Residence at Columbia University’s Columbia Technology Ventures, Senior Fellow at Georgetown University’s Beeck Center and Mentor at Stanford University’s Latino Leadership Initiative. In September 2021, the President nominated Javier to be Chairman of the $800 billion Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board, subject to Senate confirmation.
Over his career Javier has been a director of several PE/VC backed companies and nonprofits and served as Mentor at Kauffman Foundation and Techstars and was a Member of Aspen Institute’s Latinos & Society. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, MS in Operations & Technology from Illinois Institute of Technology and BS in Industrial Management from Purdue University.
